3 Tips for Making Money on Depop

November 14, 2022 by Susan Paige Leave a Comment

Depop is an online marketplace that allows users to sell second hand items such as clothes, shoes, and jewelry, in addition to handmade art and restored vintage items. Depop is an ideal destination for second hand clothing lovers who are on the hunt for the most unique pieces available, and for those who enjoy selling second hand items. Whether you’re cleaning out your closet and getting rid of clothes that no longer fit you or trying to profit off of some great thrift store scores, there is no denying that you can make a fairly large amount of money selling on Depop. If you’re new to Depop or the secondhand market in general, here are some tips for making money.

  1. Be Professional

Attract users to your profile by choosing a cute username, adding a flattering profile picture, and writing a unique yet informative bio. This will not only incentivize users to visit your page, but will boost the trust that potential buyers have in you and the items you are selling. The more professional your profile/shop looks, the more people are likely to visit your page, follow you, and spend money. Plus, the more followers you have, the more likely your items are to show up in popular searches or on a user’s main feed, increasing exposure and engagement for your items.

  1. Only Use the Best Photos

The key to making sales on Depop is uploading high quality images that clearly show the item(s) you are selling in a flattering light. Many expert sellers recommend using photos that include models wearing or holding the items you are selling, as this not only gives potential buyers an accurate idea of what each item will really look like but also because this is more initially attractive and will likely drive more traffic to your profile. Be sure to upload high quality, unedited photos of each item. When you are unable to model an item, consider using a unique background in order to help your items stand out from others on the site. Making sure that your profile is as professional as a business that utilizes a free voip trial is the key to making sales.

  1. Price Items Fairly

One of the biggest critiques of Depop sellers is that many items available on the site are too expensive, especially for items that are being sold secondhand. If potential buyers visit your page and see high price tags on used items, they are unlikely to follow you, let alone purchase any of your items. Be sure to think about the quality of the items you are selling and to compare the prices you have in mind to the actual retail cost of each item, and the cost of what similar second hand sellers are asking for it.
