Blog Post of the Week! from See Debt Run

Blog Post of the Week! from See Debt Run

Dear Minions,

And so the long, hot summer began.

I’m not sure I like the start of this story, but this is the way it works out, huh? Today, I’m hanging the “out of the office” sign on the door. As you read, I’m truckin’ down the highway toward Cleveland for two reasons:

1) Cleveland Rocks

2) My sister is having surgery, and your favorite resident clown is gonna be her cheerleader during recovery.

She and I were joking on the phone yesterday, and I told her that while they had her head open they should install some HD or something cool. Brain surgery on it’s own is kind of passé’ these days. She said HD sounded good, but maybe she’d have more RAM installed.

That’s when I knew my sister would be okay.

She’s been in surgery for 30 minutes as I write this. God speed, sis!

Our Blog Post of the Week!

Choosing this week’s soon-to-be-esteemed Blog Post of the Week! winner was anything but brain surgery. In our winning post Michelle from See Debt Run and her co-partner in crime Jefferson teach their son a valuable lesson in: The Right Thing.  I hope this kid has some clue what great parents he has!

Michelle, you know what you have to do to claim your prize:

Print out this page and post it on your refrigerator.

Cash tokens of your appreciation are also welcome, but totally unnecessary, unless you want to work out a deal where I make you the winner every week. Just imagine Blog Post of the Week! Winner See Debt Run, sponsored by See Debt Run! Nobody will ever guess you paid me for that. Brilliant, huh?

8 Great Blogs You Should Be Reading But Probably Aren’t So I’ll Remind You

I think it’s big news that Sam at Financial Samurai is retiring from his job. Celebrate your wins, right? This is a banner moment. Congrats, friend! Read: Taking a Leap of Faith and Retiring on My Own Terms.

My Money Counselor scares the bejesuts out of me with The Big LIBOR Lie. His story reminds me of the time a friend at a party in 2007 said, “I think this mortgage thing is going to be huge.” The third guy standing with us said, “What mortgage thing?”

On the scary front, even the concept of a nursing home is something my clients used to shudder in fear over. Imagine someone’s surprise when they received the bill for their parent’s nursing home stay. Check out Dr. Dean at the Millionaire Nurse Blog’s Paying Your Parent’s Nursing Home Bills: Required By Law?

I like the point Money Crush is making in the post: Is It Easier to Spend or Save? Simply put, sometimes you achieve success just by the way you frame the problem.

GiveMeBackMyFiveBucks nearly was ripped off and shows you How to Avoid Online Apartment Rental Scams.

Melinda at MomVesting has some good tips for kids during the summer, including a Kids Bowl Free promotion. Check out Investing In Family: Cheap Summer Fun.

It’s been a few weeks since we’ve mentioned our friend Erin here. She’s writing this week about the time she was a Tarot card reader from home. Ever wonder if working from home is for you? Check out her story first: The Shortest Job.

Finally, let’s leave you with Tony at the Joyful Self Manager, and his post How To Masterfully Practice the Law of Reciprocity. This has always worked for me. You ignore his advice here at your own peril. To paraphrase Zig Ziglar: If you spend your days helping others get what they want, you’ll never had to worry about getting what you want.

I’d love to practice the law of reciprocity more here, but the highway awaits. There were so, so many great posts again this week. Go read!

I’m Very Popular

I’ve appeared all over the interwebs the last couple of weeks:

Thanks to Daisy at Add-Vodka for letting me guest post yesterday. Read: Money Problems? Jump on Board!

Our Friend Bog of Debt links to our Add-Vodka post in her Friday the 13th Link Love post. I totally forgot it’s Friday the 13th!

Thanks to Money Bulldog for mentioning Does Earnings Season Affect Me? in his Top 10 Personal Finance Blog Picks of the Week.

Thank you to our new friend Debts N Taxes for mentioning our guest post on Add-Vodka in his Linkin’ It Up: 4th Edition. I hope his lottery tickets pay off!

Speaking of new friends, I’m a fan of iHeartBudgets. Good writing and a good sense of humor. He’s also has the good sense to choose our guest post at Add Vodka for his roundup this week: Weekly Wrap-Up and What I’m Reading on the Web.

Our podcast was mentioned on the Planwise blog (of course it was because THEY WERE ON OUR SHOW, but we’ll take what we can get). They’re a couple of great chaps I’m happy to have met and that I’m thrilled to work with in the future.

John at My Family Finances linked to the guest post on our site: 5 Ways to Invest Your Money You Haven’t Thought Of. Read his post: Can I Trick You Into Giving Me Ideas For Content for a hilarious story about content and his spouse.

We were included in the Carnival of Money Pros at I am 1 Percent and the Yakezie Carnival at Edward Antrobus.

Have a great weekend!
