Blog Post of the Fortnight! by Afford Anything
Okay, team. Blogpost of the Fortnight! is driving me crazy like that slow-assed old lady in the passing lane with her seat belt dragging down the highway.
I can’t figure out how to fit in a ton of great posts (sorry, team, but I friekin’ hate the long, long “thank everyone and hand them a competitor ribbon” roundup posts). At the same time, when this was Blog Post of the Week! it was just too much. I had a post like this every fourth one.
So, we’re at a stalemate. It’s time to do what I told my clients in this situation: pick a direction and start running. So, Blog Post of the Fortnight! is probably dead, but I’m not sure what’s next (Blog Post of the Week! But Not Every Week! sound good?).
So, that makes this Fortnight’s winner extra special. Like gravy on potatoes (and what isn’t more special than THAT?), this is a delightful winning post.
Paula, from Afford Anything, tells a gripping story about how she found out she was adopted. I’d love to summarize it here, but I’ll spoil the fun. Read The Day I Learned I Was Adopted.
Paula, as the big prize winner this week, you receive the ultimate honor:
You may print this out and post it proudly on your refrigerator.
8 Great Blog Posts You Might Have Forgotten To Read So I’ll Remind You
Sometimes statistics bore me. But then again, the Harper’s List is one of my single favorite pages of reading (it’s a single page of one-line statistics…each that tell a story and some of which tell a BIGGER story). The master of stats, PK from DQYDJ gives us the kind I like: how your weight affects the size of your wallet. Really? Yup. Check out: What Does Your Weight Say About Your Net Worth?
The first of three travel pieces I’ll mention this week is by Pauline from Reach Financial Independence. She isn’t visiting Guatemala…she’s moving there! Read her piece Moving Abroad: The Checklist to begin following her travels.
KrantCents starts off his post Why I Don’t Have a Bucket List with the sentence: Bucket lists are stupid! What a great way to stir the pot, KC!
Speaking of travel, Makin the Bacon finished a trip to South America that makes me jealous. Read about it in All Aboard the Inca Express, Pt. 1
A great emerging writer is L. Bee from L. Bee and the Money Tree. I find myself going to her site now just to see what she’s thinking….it may not be financial, but baby, it’s gonna be interesting. This week she’s Grieving the Fairy Tale.
I feel lucky to have made good friends along my blogging journey. Dominique Brown from Your Finances Simplified FINALLY wrote his Yakezie network member post, and man….it’s a good one. Read Dom’s story in: I’m Not Supposed To Be Here.
Our final travel piece comes from Dr. Dean. Want to travel someplace super-scary? Read his piece: You Want Spooky? I Got Spooky.
And finally, a special nod to Budget & The Beach for her first VBlog! It’s a hilarious story…I must admit that I had no clue where it was headed and then laughed my head off. That was SO something I’d do….. Watch My First VLog: Being Yourself.
Go Kick Some Ass, Maria!
Our friend Maria from TheMoneyPrinciple is running a marathon this weekend. It’s always a big deal when someone has the courage to go 26.2 miles. Go, Maria! We’re rooting for you!

I love to stir the pot! Why wait to do something by putting it on a (bucket) list. My theory is do it while you can still enjoy it.

Seriously, though, I do appreciate the ultra-special BPoftheF honor. And gravy on potatoes is DELICIOUS; I’m not sure anything can compare to that ….

I completely agree with the lack of love for generic round ups. Sending your readers to so-so articles will ultimately lead to your recommendations having no weight. For that reason, blog post of the maybe biweek sounds perfect.
Maybe I should call it that! “Blog Post of the (Maybe) Bi-Week!” gives me lots of leeway.
Awe so happy I made the last one! I’m glad I’m not the only one who would do something like that. I wonder if someone is trying to tell me that I should really sign up for that other seminar. lol!
