Another Day At The Office

Hi Joe,

I am a blogger(writer) by profession and I love to write articles on financial topics. So, I would like to contribute something for your site: (thefreefinancialadvisor.com) absolutely at free of cost. Each of my content would be unique, analytic and 100% relevant for your site.

Please let me know your thoughts. Waiting for your positive reply.

Shaun,

I’m just curious….did you get this spiel out of a book? I receive a similarly worded request about 20 times a week.

How to write guest posts:

1) read my blog.

2) know what the hell I write  about.

3) maybe comment a few times so I have a clue who you are.

4) …then ask me if you can write on my site.

Love,
j.

  1. HAHA! Yup.

I’ve always wondered who sends out these emails because they are always the same yet they are from different “people”. Obviously it’s someone without any sort of a clue on how to actually get a guest post spot.

    • You think they’d be a little more creative, don’t you?

      Dear Joe,

I just love your incredible blog: THEFREEFINANCIALADVISOR and would love to give you a guest post about SAVINGMOREMONEYQUICKLY.

      Thank you,

    • I’ve been afraid of that so I haven’t replied….until today.

    • I actually never respond to any of them….until today. Every once in a great while I decide it’s time to f$#% with the idiots.

  2. “Every once in a great while I decide it’s time to f$#% with the idiots.” Lol! I LOVE this Joe! It always makes me wonder what on earth these people think we must be smoking to think that we’ll gladly accept their posts. I even had one tell me a few months ago that they would start commenting so they could guest post. I just had to tell them not to bother with wasting my time as well as their time.

    • I’m dumb enough that if they commented a few times I’d probably let them guest post! …just don’t tell me your “strategy” ahead of time.

  3. I was just complaining about this to another blogger! I have a canned reply to these canned emails, but once I tell them my rates for sponsored content (you can almost 100% of the time tell if it’s a post you should charge for or not just by what they put in the email), I only get a response back about 5% of the time. I don’t even know if it’s worth responding anymore…

  4. This is so funny! I just started getting these emails, so I’m new to this craziness :) I especially like the ones that don’t even address me by my name! Just “Hi, we like your blog and….”

  5. Haha, those emails are funny. Well, they dont’ really want to guest post, in so much as they want a link back to their own sites. They’re hoping you won’t see through it and give it to them for free, but these types of people end up doing sponsored posts, I think.

  6. I’ve been getting crafty requests lately. They actually do research me and the blog and find a way to relate. Which is great! Except then they want to place affiliate links and pretend like they’re not affiliate links. And I’m not posting that without a fee. And I’m not posting anything you write ever after you insulted me by thinking I was so stupid I wouldn’t notice you were trying to dupe me.

  7. I think there is a script on the bathroom wall that they follow! LOL! The second act is when they send you a sample article, if you ask. My response is the third act which is usually no thanks.

    • Ha! Exactly. You just crank out the form letters. It must be a best seller, William.

      • People should demand a refund if that’s the case, it clearly isn’t working!

  8. I guess I should stop sending you emails then…

Seriously though, I’m sometimes tempted because I have this goal of publishing guest posts on my site, but I just can’t bring myself to even consider a post from someone who writes “…absolutely at free of cost. Each of my content…”
